At the request of Her family, I would like to present
Professor Zofia Knychalska-Karwan as a person.
We met when I was a student, in the 1950s, and for
the last twenty years I enjoyed her friendship, and
we became very close. As a teacher and tutor she
was very demanding, and sometimes we feared Her
a little. Being an assiduous person, she motivated
her colleagues to do research and set up scientific
projects, and this can account for so many doctoral
theses, habilitation dissertations, handbooks that she
edited or wrote entirely by herself
