Learning objectives
- Perform a systematic duplex examination of the GSV, SSV, AASV, major tributaries and relevant perforating veins.
- Optimise B-mode, colour and spectral Doppler settings for slow venous flow and reflux assessment.
- Use appropriate patient positioning and provocative manoeuvres to identify and document reflux.
- Recognise superficial vein thrombosis, post-thrombotic changes and clinically relevant anatomical variants.
- Produce a clear venous map and structured report that supports treatment planning.

- Select the appropriate sclerosant, concentration, volume and form for common clinical situations.
- Perform safe injection techniques for telangiectasias, reticular veins and selected varicose tributaries.
- Use ultrasound guidance when required and recognise signs of correct intravascular administration.
- Prevent, recognise and manage common early complications of sclerotherapy.

- Distinguish acute DVT from chronic post-thrombotic changes.

- Identify findings that should prompt iliocaval assessment or further cross-sectional imaging.

Learning objectives
- Identify varicose tributaries and selected prominent reticular veins suitable for miniphlebectomy.
- Distinguish veins better treated with miniphlebectomy from those more appropriate for sclerotherapy, transcutaneous laser or combined treatment.
- Plan incision sites and treatment sequence based on clinical examination and venous mapping.
- Perform the key steps of ambulatory miniphlebectomy using appropriate instruments and extraction techniques.
- Adapt the technique to small, superficial and aesthetically sensitive veins.
- Optimize cosmetic outcomes while minimizing bruising, pigmentation, scarring, nerve injury and skin trauma.
- Integrate miniphlebectomy with truncal ablation, sclerotherapy or laser treatment when appropriate.
