Ovarian cancer is still one of the most difficult diseases for diagnosing and treatment in modern oncological gynecology, becoming first one in discussion about controversies in medical treatment and diagnostical standards. In the same time ovarian cancer trials and medical researches brings us a large number of information about diagnostics and treatment, printing in medical international literature,
trying to put some methods in the specified brackets of treatment which shows lack of possibility of creating monolithical therapy
standards.
In the last ten years some changes in diagnostics and therapy of ovarian cancer occured. Diagnostics standards based on ultrasonography and bichemical neoplasmatical markers (such as: CA-125, CEA, AFP) increased number of detected early stadiums of disease.
Developement created by modern chemotherapy based on platin and taxoids, caused obvious therapeutical benefit. It did not revealed all problems and therapeutical effects occured to be short-term, with a large number of reccurence of the disease.
We now observe return to ovarian cancer treatment with teleradiotherapy as it was before, marginal for a long time, wich occured to be, using specified methodology, as good or maybe even beter than chemotherapy.
Authors try to review actual knowledge about etiology, prophilactical standards, common ovarian cancer trials and modern systemic medical treatment such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
