The issue of patients’ rights is multifarious regarding both the legal and practical point of view. The aim of this review paper is to show (mainly physicians) sources of patients’ rights and the obligations of doctors, who are responsible for obtaining a patient’s written consent to perform a medical procedure in cardiac surgery. This problem is seriously important when the consent is related to juveniles due to its complex nature, which is also described in the article.
