Patient with a painful inflammation of the oral mucosa in palliative care

Stomatitis is a painful illness, usually on the mucosa of the mouth, throat and esophagus. It is estimated that is concerned 40-60% of patients who have undergone treatment anticancers and 70% of the patients during the treatment. The aim of this study was to identify risk factors stomatitis palliative patients, and on the basis of determination of applicable procedures pharmacology. The review of selected literature discussing oral mucositis in patients palliative. Discussed saliva composition and construction, its role in physiological and pathological conditions, discusses the evaluation and diagnosis methods stomatitis, the available scales assessing inflammation and the possibility of differentiation and monitoring changes in the dynamics of inflammation. Proposed treatments available including therapies based on restoring electrolyte balance in the oral mucosa. One of these therapeutic agents is a formulation comprising a supersaturated solution of calcium and phosphate ions. The article discusses the theoretical use of electrolyte solutions for oral mucosa and their role in restoring steady on its surface. Discussed are available in tabular form compounds and formulations for topical application, and possible to use antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents for systemic use. The use of enriched preparations of calcium and phosphate compounds seems most preferred is currently a rebalancing electrolytes oral mucosa possible to apply next to targeted therapy.
