We have known for a long time that women and men suffer from mental disorders differently, the incidence and epidemiological data are different, the course and prognosis are different, this of course applies not only to schizophrenia. This is obviously related to biology, but also to social phenomena and stereotypes.

There is a lot of evidence that most drugs are designed to treat men, drug doses are generally calculated for men, we see an overrepresentation of men in clinical trials for schizophrenia treatment. The latter is also related to the overrepresentation of men in psychiatric care (related to the treatment of schizophrenia precisely), especially in the psychiatric hospital. It’s worth noting women’s issues and planning comprehensive and targeted therapy in cooperation with the schizophrenic patient from the first episode of the disease.
