Heart disease operative treatment can contribute to the occurrence of a number of complications. Introducing new techniques has reduced this risk, though it has not eliminated it completely. A cardio-surgical procedure is a traumatic experience having a strong effect on an organism’s homeostasis, whereas the procedure-related trauma brings about a stress response dependent on many factors. Patients undergoing cardio-surgical procedures comprise a heterogeneous group and the final results of this treatment are impossible to predict with certainty.

Physiotherapeutic procedures are considered to be one of the major cardio-surgical treatment ingredients and they determine the final outcome to a great extent. The range of the rehabilitation procedure including the kind and exercise intensity should be established on an individual basis for each patient. Patients with a complicated postoperative course represent a special care group.

The thesis describes the course of a 4-month rehabilitation in a patient undergoing an emergency procedure of implantation of ascending aorta and aortic arch stent along with biological aortic valve implantation due to aorta dissection type A.

A considerable improvement in the patient’s health condition was obtained as a result of comprehensive therapeutic procedures.
