There was taken the comparative examination of selenium concentration in red blood cells, plasma, urine, hair and nails and the activity of glutation peroxidase in red blood cells in 31 healthy persons (11 females and 20 males) and 34 persons suffering from psoriasis vulgaris (12 females and 22 males). It has been confirmed that the concentration of selenium in red blood cells and plasma, as well as the activity of glutation peroxidase in red blood cells in psoriasis patients are markedly reduced. The observation presented may have conections with different part of psoriasis pathogenesis and/or it may be the result of disease process. The concentration of selenium in urine, nail plate and hair shaft does not indicate significant differences among healthy persons and psoriasis patients.
