Cancer causes numerous physical and mental disorders, also in the area of patients’ sexuality. Women with cancer are more likely to experience sexual dysfunction than the general population. The main etiological factors are: the type of cancer and the implemented therapy, the presence of pain, the patient’s age and mental state, factors related to the partner and general satisfaction with the relationship, perception of one’s own body, as well as education in the field of sexual health. In women with cancer, in addition to symptoms such as weakness, wasting or cancer fatigue, vaginal lubrication, desire and arousal, and the ability to achieve orgasm may be impaired. In addition, there is dyspareunia, fear of engaging in sexual activity, and even its complete abandonment. It is important to increase the awareness of patients about the impact of cancer and the treatment used on sexual function, and to use treatment methods appropriate to the type of disorders and their etiology. The aim of this paper is to summarize the issue of sexual dysfunction among cancer patients and to present the available therapeutic options.
