The process of healing a chronic wound is complex and requires specific measures. The complex treatment includes many elements, such as the following: diagnostics, causal, local, and antibacterial treatment, as well as care for hygiene of the surrounding skin. The skin surrounding a chronic wound is colonised by various pathogenic microorganisms and therefore requires specific actions, including hygiene and care. The paper presents two descriptions of cases of patients with venous ulceration of the lower limb, in which the skin surrounding the wounds required special care. The performed activities resulted in a significant improvement of the clinical condition of the wound and the skin surrounding the ulcer.
