Abstract
The estimated level of protection provided by qualified nurses for patients suffering from chronic wounds in Poland in 2016
Aim of the study
The main purpose of the article was a definition of the estimated level of healthcare, for those who suffered from chronic wounds, provided by nurses who completed a specialised course “wound healing” in the years 2001-2016.
Material and methods
The analysed data came from the CKPPiP, Supreme NRPiP, NFZ, GUS, and RWPL. In the absence of any reliable statistical information about the registration of patients with chronic wounds and the employment of nurses, the analysis has illustrative and estimated function.
Results
In the years 2001-2006, 21,078 nurses completed the specialised course “wound healing”. The average number of nurses providing services for people suffering from chronic wounds was determined as 30 patients for one nurse.
Conclusions
Assuming that every nurse provided services in accordance with their professional skills, it can be presumed that the level of nurse’s care of people suffering from chronic wounds in 2016 was satisfactory.
