Introduction:
Lower limb length inequality is a functional disorder that results in lower limb dysfunction and subsequently disturbs the statics and dynamics of the whole body. In more than 90% of patients the limb length discrepancy is caused by shortening of a limb.
Case report:
The study presents a 14-year-old male patient on the first day after the procedure of the Ilizarov apparatus on his femoral bone. Several nursing problems that required implementation of advanced medical procedures were identified.
Results:
Factors that determine improvement of limb function, reduce the risk of complications, and help achieve optimal psychosocial functioning include appropriate identification of the patient’s needs, providing a holistic approach to the patient and development of an individually tailored plan of nursing care.
Conclusions:
Patient care after lower limb lengthening using the Ilizarov method should be planned according to the general condition according to the nursing process.
