Introduction:
The objective of this study was to validate the Simulation Effectiveness Tool – Modified (SET-M) scale as a reliable tool for assessing the effectiveness of simulation-based teaching among nursing students in Poland.
Material and methods:
The study was conducted on a group of 256 nursing students, aged 18–35, who actively participated in high-fidelity simulation sessions. The group was selected based on specific inclusion criteria, and individuals lacking simulation experience or those with health issues limiting participation were excluded. The following inclusion criteria were adopted: nursing students aged 18–35, active participation in high-fidelity simulation sessions, informed consent to participate in the study. Exclusion criteria: lack of experience with simulation, health problems limiting participation. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the SET-M scale, measuring various aspects of simulation-based education.
Results:
The study confirmed the reliability of the SET-M scale, achieving a Cronbach’s a of 0.88, which indicates good internal consistency. Additionally, strong subscale correlations were observed. However, the findings revealed that the study group was heterogeneous, particularly with respect to prior educational backgrounds and demographic variables, suggesting variability in the sample.
Conclusions:
The SET-M scale is a reliable and valid tool for assessing the effectiveness of simulation-based education in Polish nursing programs. The use of this tool can enhance the optimization of teaching strategies and contribute to the development of highly skilled medical staff.
