Hiccup is a common symptom among palliative patients. However, its pathomechanism remains little known, which makes effective treatment difficult. The following article presents a patient case study after treatment for gastric adenocarcinoma, in whom untreatable hiccup developed. After exclusion of the most common causes of singultus, attention was drawn to deepening vitamin B12, deficiency – macrocytic anaemia. As a result of substitution treatment, there has been a permanent cessation of the ailments. This case suggests that cobalamin can be one of the alternative methods in hiccup management, which would demand further research.
