Considering planning of symptomatic treatment, in addition to medical aspects, we should assess the patient’s attitude to his own disease, the level of doctor-patient communication, the burden in history of addictive disease, quality of life. The study included a patient with a diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with metastasis to bones and spine, falling under an outpatient palliative medicine because of the persistent pain. The aim of this study was to determine whether in the described case of the patient treated with intranasal administered, short-acting opioid is justified to further continue the treatment plan, or to change the therapeutic concept, dictated by fear of developing an addiction to the drug, due to non-compliance with the recommendations by the patient.
