Bone metastases and treatment of patients in the advanced stage of the disease are a heavy burden for the healthcare system. Pain, pathological fractures, axial skeleton instability, and neurological dysfunctions are the most common consequences of epidural metastases to the spinal cord and its compression. A review of literature of the years 2015–2023 was done, based on the PubMed database. The key-phrase “spinal metastases” was used in the search for duplicates. Of 3069 studies, 2567 were eliminated as not directly related to the analysis. Finally, 36 studies (including reviews and meta-analyses) were selected as relevant to the analysed problems. Metastases from malignant cancers are most commonly localised in the axial skeleton, causing spinal cord compression and neurological symptoms. Surgical decompression improves the functioning and quality of life of the patients.
