Introduction: Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection and HPV-induced diseases are a significant epidemiological problem in Poland and all over the world. Genital types of this virus influence the development of benign and malignant lesions. The general use of HPV vaccination is claimed to reduce the number of patients suffering from HPV-induced diseases significantly. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the profile of patients who were admitted to the outpatient clinic in the Chair and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Oncology, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Medical University of Warsaw from 1.01.2007 to 31.07.2008. They visited the clinic in order to receive HPV vaccination. Material and methods: The research group consisted of 47 patients. The factors which were assessed were the following: age, education, place of origin and the patients’ sexual activity. In order to exclude any genital tract pathologies each patient underwent gynaecological examination and colposcopy. Also Pap smears were taken. Results: Forty-seven patients aged 13-32 underwent the vaccination. The biggest group (23 patients) consisted of girls aged 14-18 who still attended lower and upper secondary school. Out of the research group, 14 patients were studying and 8 were working. In the research group 13 patients (27.65%) were virgin. One woman after delivery. Thirtysix patients from the research group are Varsovians; the other patients come from smaller towns which situated near the capital. Conclusions: 1. Patients aged 14-18 formed the biggest part of the research group (48.94%); 13 of them were virgin. 2. Patients who visited the clinic in order to receive HPV vaccination were mostly Varsovians with higher education.
