Instructions for submitting papers to Przegląd Menopauzalny/Menopause Review
The bimonthly Menopause Review publishes original papers (experimental, clinical or laboratory), review papers and case reports within menopause gynaecology. Additionally, the journal publishes letters to the Editorial Office, reports and materials from scientific meetings, book reviews, and also announcements about planned congresses and scientific meetings. Papers should be sent to the Editorial Office in 2 copies. Papers sent to us are anonymously reviewed. The Editorial Office retains the right to annotate the published papers with editorial comments. Ethical requirements When reporting experiments on human subjects, authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975, as revised in 2000 (concerning the ethical principles for the medical community and forbidding releasing the name of the patient, initials or the hospital evidence number) and with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional and national). Information regarding the ethical committee approval for conducting the research and the informed consents of patients for participating in the studies should be included in the methods section of those articles, in which the diagnostic intervention or the treatment result from non-routine procedures. The authors presenting case studies are obligated not to disclose patients' personal data. Regarding photographs, in case of any doubt the picture inadequately protects the patient's anonymity his consent is required for publication. Articles describing animal studies should contain information of being in accordance with local regulations (institutional and national). Conflict of interest Authors are expected to describe sources of the research founding, a role of potential sponsor in planning, executing and analysis in the study, and the influence (bias) the funding organization had on the content of the article. Other relationships (such as employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony) providing potential sources of conflict of interest in relation to the submitted article should also be revealed. Manuscript The manuscript should be sent in 2 identical copies, including a covering note with the agreement of all authors to publication of the study results and a statement that the paper has not been published in its entirety in any other medical journals. 1. The length of original and review papers should not exceed 12 pages, of case reports 5 pages, and of others 2 pages (including references, abstracts, tables and figures). 2. Papers should be printed on A4 paper, using 12 point font (e.g. Arial, Times New Roman) with double spaces between lines. The left margin should be 4 cm, and other margins (apart from the first page) 2.5 cm. 3. No special formatting should be used for emphasis (underlining, capital letters only, etc.). Proposals for emphasizing text should be marked on the right margin with a pencil. 4. In the right margin the positions of tables and figures should be marked with a pencil. 5. Biochemical indices and other measurements should be provided in SI units. 6. On the first page, 10 cm of space from the top should be left free for technical and publishing remarks. The following information should be provided in the given order: a) title of the paper (in Polish and English), b) full name and surname of the author (authors), c) abstract (minimum 200, maximum 250 words), d) name of the clinic, hospital ward or unit, e) academic title, initials and surname of the head of the unit the paper comes from. Information listed in points d and e should be placed at the bottom of the page, under a line. 7. The text of original and clinical papers should be divided into the following sections: introduction, aim, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions, key words in Polish and English, address of the author (authors). 8. The following should be attached to the paper on separate pages: references, abstract in English, tables, figures, and captions for figures. 9. Authors using materials originating from other sources should obtain agreement to use these materials from the authors of the paper and the publishing house which published them. References The reference list should be arranged in the order in which the citations appear in the text. The number of cited papers in original and review papers should not exceed 30 entries, and in case reports, 10. References should only be made to published titles. 1. In references to articles from journals the following information should be provided in the given order: surname of the author with the initial of the first name (with a larger number of authors, only the first 3 should be listed), title of the paper, abbreviation of journal’s title, year of publication, volume number, and the pages on which the article begins and ends. 2. References to non-serial publications (books) should include the following information in the given order: surname of the author with the initial of the first name, title, volume number (when there is more than one volume), edition number (do not indicate first editio), name of the publisher, place of publication and year of publication; with collective works the surname of the responsible editor should be given after the book title and the abbreviation “ed.”. 3. When referring to chapters from books the following information should be given in the given order: author of the chapter, then after the word “in”: author (editor) of the book, title of the book, volume number, edition number, name of the publisher, place of publication and year of publication, pages of the beginning and end of the article. Tables Tables numbered with Roman numerals should be submitted in two copies on separate A4 pages. Figures Figures should be submitted in two copies, made in black or colour ink on white paper or printed using a laser printer, or in the form of black-and-white photographs on gloss paper. Figures should be numbered with Arabic numerals. Figure titles should be submitted on separate pages. A list of data should be attached to graphs. Abstract An abstract in English should be attached to the paper. It should have a minimum of 200 and a maximum of 250 words. The following parts should be distinguished in it: Objectives, Design, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions. Data storage devices A copy of the paper should be provided as a Word file on an IBM 3 1/2' diskette or CD-ROM disk attached to the typescript. Texts and graphics should be provided as separate files. Author’s rights The publisher acquires on an exclusive basis all copyrights to the published papers (including the right to publish in print, in electronic media [CD and others], and on the Internet). It is only permitted to publish abstracts without the publisher’s agreement. Accordingly, no royalty fees are due to the authors. |
