Based on Colour Doppler ultrasonographic examinations performed in 25 women taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT), the localisation, duration and extent of venous thrombosis have been shown. In most of women the venous thrombosis has occurred in deep system vessels. The lesions have been extensive, having comprised more than one segment. Generally, the disease process has included femoropopliteal segment and shin. In the study group thrombosis has appeared between one month and 10 years of HRT administration. The thrombotic events have been found mostly during the first or the second year of substitution treatment (40% of all cases).
