The ability to measure physiological parameters of sexual function in women has lagged far behind that in men. Female sexual arousal is an important aspect of female sexuality, yet it is a difficult phenomenon to investigate. The purpose of this article is to review the currently available tools used in the physiological assessment of the clitoral complex in female sexual function, and to delineate their advantages and limitations.
