Introduction
Wound treatment is the provision of a health service and can be performed by a nurse. This entails professional, civil, and criminal liability.

Aim od the study
To present the currently binding legal regulations for wound care by nurses in Poland – legal status as of February 2020.

Material and methods
The current legal acts regulating the nurse’s responsibility in the wound healing process were analysed. In Poland there are no explicit legal regulations in this respect.

Results
As a result of the analysis, it was found that determining the nurse’s responsibility in the wound healing process is possible by precisely defining professional competences.
