Menopause is defined as the physiological cessation of menstruation caused by decreased function of the ovaries, which affects women about 50 years old. Lower oestrogen level causes many different pathological processes in the woman’s body. It increases the risk of coronary heart disease, induces osteoporosis, and causes organic changes in the vaginal mucosa and mucosa of the lower part of the urinary tract (dyspareunia, urgency of micturition). Efficiency of the body is diminished, and quality of life becomes worse. Menopause significantly influences the appearance of women. Skin atrophy causes many different symptoms of skin aging. The most characteristic features of menopausal skin are the appearance of wrinkles, pigment alterations, increased transepidermal water loss and skin dryness. The number of telangiectasias is higher and hair becomes thin and grey.
