Introduction
Traumatic epidermal injuries are a common problem in the care of chronically ill elderly patients.
Aim of the study
Present the problem of epidermal tears based on world literature and own experience.
Material and methods
Literature analysis was performed using the resources of Science Direct PubMed and Termedia databases.
Results
Systematic prophylaxis and implementation of preventive measures for traumatic skin injuries by using limb skin protection during transportation and movement reduces the risk of trauma among the elderly.
Conclusions
Wound assessment and protection through hematoma elimination and stabilization of damaged epidermis improves the healing process and reduces the risk of wound infection. Increasing the level of knowledge among health care professionals is a key to identifying, classifying these types of wounds, and implementing protocols for care and treatment.
