Background : The quality of life is a multidimensional concept relating to the various spheres of human functioning. Any disease process affects the patient’s life and leads to various restrictions. The development of medical technology helped to improve cardiac pacemakers, which can fulfill different functions. They make it possible to obtain the electrical activity of the heart in a manner most similar to normal. Their job is to protect the patient from the loss of consciousness and sudden death.

Aim of the study: To assess the quality of patient’s life after implantation of a pacemaker.

Material and methods: The research group consisted of patients with implanted pacemaker (n = 58). A questionnaire constructed on the purpose of this survey and the quality of life scale WHOQOL-BREF were used in the study.

Results : The examined patients were more satisfied with the quality of their lives (x = 3.60) than with the health condition (x = 3.12). 63.79% of the respondents was satisfied with the quality of life and 43.10% with the state of health. The quality of life in the social field was rated highest by the respondents (x = 14.15), the quality of life in the physical domain was rated lowest (x = 11.77).

Conclusions : The researched patients adapted to the functioning with the implanted pacemaker. The quality of life was dependent on the respondents: age, education, economic activity, time period after a pacemaker implantation, the presence of coexisting diseases, disfunctions of the pacemaker.
