Stab wound in the chest penetrating to right ventricle of the heart closed in a rural hospital – case report

This is a case report of a scenario which can be found during on-call duty in general surgery.
A 25-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest penetrating to the right ventricle of the heart and a stab wound to the abdomen was transferred in shock as an emergency to a rural hospital.
The stab wound in the right ventricle was closed by a general surgeon after resuscitation. Exploratory laparotomy revealed no lesion in the abdomen.
The patient left hospital in good condition after 19 days of hospitalization.
Follow-up 18 months after surgery confirmed good physical and mental condition.
