Assessment of the quality of life of patients after myocardial revascularization and after of cardiac rehabilitation

The aim of the study was to assess quality of life of patients after myocardial revascularization, who passed of cardiac rehabilitation.

Material and methods: The study was conducted from 1.09.2015 to 31.12.2015 and covered a group of 80 people (36 women – 45% and 44 men – 55% of respondents) aged

31 years to 80 years. Patients were treated at SP ZOZ Sanatorium Uzdrowiskowe Ministry of the Interior in Sopot. Evaluation of the quality of life of patients was made using the author’s questionnaire containing 26 questions.

Results: The study found that 46% of respondents had made percutaneous coronary intervention, 59% surgery coronary artery bypass grafting, and 6% – both treatments. The patients of the sanatorium frequently pointed hypertension occurring as a concomitant disease (61%). The study showed that 21% of patients before surgery cultivated regular physical activity, but it is currently cultivated 34% of respondents. Before the surgery generally satisfied with life was 36% of respondents, and now – 76% of respondents.

Conclusions: The study showed that coronary revascularization and rehabilitation have an impact on the frequency of physical activity. Patients after surgery and rehabilitation often undertake regular physical activity. After myocardial revascularization and of cardiac rehabilitation patients indicated to improve the quality of life, and both procedures a positive impact on various aspects of their life. Revascularization and rehabilitation decreased perception of pain associated with coronary heart disease patients. Patients have noticed the effects of health improvement after of cardiac rehabilitation.
