In this paper, based on the currently available literature data and clinical practice, the diagnostic procedure (clinical, laboratory and imaging tests) necessary for diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is presented. Based on the currently available lite-

rature data and taking into account the specific Polish setting, a treatment and monitoring algorithm for SLE patients is proposed (Fig. 1, Tables I–III).
