Conjunctival provocation test is used in the diagnostics of the seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and perennial allergic conjunctivitis but also in some cases of the vernal keratoconjunctivitis and atopic keratoconjunctivitis. Conjunctival provocation test is an useful tool in the assessment of the specific conjunctival reaction in patients with a positive medical history regarding allergic eye diseases but with a negative SPT and sIgE results. It is also used in the polyvalent allergy (the choice of the most clinically relevant allergen is crucial for introducing immunotherapy in seasonal and perennial allergic conjunctivitis). The safety of the test consists of the appropriate conditions for its performance and the insightful assessment of contraindications.
