This article addresses issues connected with the legal basis for haemotherapy in Poland. It also discusses the tasks of a nurse in routine and emergency situations involving the transfusion of blood and blood derivatives. Presenting the fundamental aspects of nursing care during transfusion and the course of action after the blood transfusion procedure, it stresses the significance of a nurse’s professional responsibility for the actions connected with the transfusion of blood and blood derivatives.
