Molecular diagnosis of LTP (lipid transfer protein) syndrome could benefit from the identification of homologue allergenic components in the new sources like latex (Hev b 12), hemp, beer, and wine. Most studies point to Can s 3, the nonspecific lipid transfer protein (LTP) of Cannabis sativa as a major allergen. Allergens responsible for wine allergy could be grape (Vitis vinifera) proteins, particularly the Vit v1 component (LTP too). Most beer proteins originate from barley (Hordeum vulgare- Hor v 14) or from hop (Hum l LTP). The LTPs from hops, wheat, barley, and maize were the causative allergen present in particular beer variety. More recently, lot of foods and drinks have been flavoured with spices, with a reported increase in allergic reactions profilin dependent, for example coriander Cor s 2, or lipid transfer proteins.
