Complications during the perioperative period among 75 patients with uterine myoma diagnosed during cesarean section were discussed in the work. During the operation, myomas were diagnosed by visual uterine examination and palpably.
Myomas were recognized among 75-14.7% of women delivering through cesarean section. The most common complications in the group of patients were:
– Necessity of transfusion of homological blood – 32%,
– Insufficiency of contractile uterine activity after labour completed by cesarean section – 24%,
– preterm placenta detachment – 8%,
– marginal placenta previa – 4%,
– axial torsion of the uterus, to the right side – 4%,
– intraveginal necrosis of the fetus – 1.3%.

The existence of uterine myomas was recognized among 14.7% among patients delivering through cesarean section. Because of high percentage of complications – in the perioperative period – pregnancy with coexistant myomas is high risk pregnancy. The increased blood loss in the perinatal period accounts for qualifying patients with uterine myoma during pregnancy to the planned autotransfusion programme.
