The author described the case of a 43-year-old woman who was diagnosed with the depression at the age of 41. The depression occurred simultaneously with the disappearance of menstrual bleeding. The patient was treated with antidepressants for the period of two years, however without significant improvement. Menstrual bleeding was induced when the patient was treated with progesterone administered intravaginally. Afterwards the hormonal replacement therapy – Divigel used transdermally and Luteina taken intravaginally was introduced. The symptoms of depression disappeared completely after the above mentioned treatment was introduced.
