The main symptoms of Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) are asthma, eosinophilia and systemic small and medium-sized vasculitis. Among 59 of our patients with systemic connective tissue diseases and eosinophilia Churg-Strauss syndrome was diagnosed in 30. Increased level of eosinophils in patients with uncertain diagnosis should be a signal of possible Churg-Strauss syndrome for every rheumatologist. The importance of eosinophilia in diagnosis and early treatment of Churg-Strauss syndrome is stressed.
