Online publish date: 2017/03/09
An essential point of proper cough treatment is identification of its type, whether we are dealing with a nonproductive (dry) cough or productive (wet) cough. If the patient suffers from productive cough, it is indicated to start a treatment with thinning secretion mucolitics, for example with acetylocystein, acting directly on the structure of mucus. Drugs that inhibit cough (antitussive) in such case are absolutely contraindicated. According to the experts recommendations, the patient should be adequately rehydrated.
