Analysis of the frequency of micronuclei in epithelial cells of women’s reproductive tract as the basis for early diagnosis of uterine cervix cancer. The increasing number of mutative factors which appear in the environment of human life means that we are exposed to their activity. Therefore, research into elaboration of methods which will allow the qualification of the influence of mutagens on genetic material is being conducted.
Material and methods: The research was carried out on two groups: 22 females suffering from uterine cervix cancer and 31 females with dysplasia. The material was received from the disk of the neck, the vault of the sheath and the channel of the neck. To estimate the degree of damage to chromosomes at the level of the single cell the micronuclear test has been used. This method is easy to conduct and consequently is suitable for biomonitoring research on the human population.
Results: There have been found differences in the frequency of the occurrence of cells with micronuclei received from the channel of the neck.
Conclusions: The conclusion arises that it can form the basis of early diagnostics of uterine cervix cancer. There has also been made a review of selected positions from the literature in which micronuclei were used as a biomarker of cancer.
