Introduction: Hyperprolactinemia i.e. exceeding the norm of concentration of prolactin is a frequent reason for too rare menstruation i.e. periods oligomenorrhoea type.

The aim of the paper was to display the role of the evaluation of concentration of prolactin among patients with menstruations oligomenorrhoea type.
Material and methods: The medical findings concerning the evaluation of contamination of prolactin among 99 patients aged 17 to 22 with period disturbances oligomenorrhoea type without clinical characteristics of endocrinopathy were analysed. A control group was constituted with 75 patients with regular menstruations (periods eumenorrhoea type) aged 17 to 21. In addition among patients in the group examinated the test with metaclopramidum was carried out in order to exclude autonomous secretion of prolactin.
Results: On the basis of data from literature and the results of statistical studies (test) essential differences in frequency of occurrence increased concentration of PRL among patients with period disturbances oligomenorrhoea type. The dimension of prolactin below 200 ng/ml did not indicate to the organic reason of hyperprolactinemia (according to the tables). The results of the examination seem to confirm the data from literature, that the patients in developmental age, reagarding for typical for that period of life emotional lability, are particularly prone to stress, what is recognized as one of reasons of i.e. instability of hormonal dynamics of hyperprolactinemia on hypothalamus – ovary hypophysis axis among girls and young women contributes to frequent occurence of irregular menstrual cycles oligomenorrhoea type.
Conclusions: Among the patients with oligomenorrhoea type disorders there is a necessity of hormonal diagnostics taking the evaluation of concentration of prolactin under consideration.
