The incidence of allergic diseases is rapidly increasing, which has a great impact on the patients’ quality of life. Early recognition and effective treatment of allergic diseases with antihistamines of a high safety profile is of prime importance. Nonsedating oral H1-anihistamines have a widespread use in reducing many symptoms of atopic diseases. They are strongly selective to H1-receptors, therefore having none or little side effects. Desloratadine as a representative of nonsedating antihistamines is recommended in allergic rhinitis and urticaria. There are 16 different pharmaceutical products of desloratadine in Poland that come in tablets, syrups and sublingual tablets. The therapy of allergic rhinitis and urticaria with desloratadine in kids, adolescents and adults is characterized by high safety and efficacy.
