Dear Colleagues,

Hard times have come, the times of the COVID-19 pandemic that have changed our entire lives. We have moved to a large extent to the virtual world. We cannot meet at conferences or conventions, and most of the scientific events take place remotely. Fortunately, our publishing house works without major changes. All the more so that we observe a significant increase in the number of scientific papers submitted to us. They are becoming more and more valuable as evidenced by another impact factor calculated for “Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques” in 2019 at the level above 1.0. We believe that this is a good prognosis for the future. And in the issue, as usual, you will find a dozen or so very interesting articles, including the one on surgery in times of COVID-19.

But firstly we would like you to note an article written especially for us by the team of Prof. David Fuks and Brice Gayet concerning the technical aspects of videoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy. We are extremely honored by this fact, especially that the publication has a lot of practical value. You will also find the first Polish standards of bariatric care recommended by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Chapter of the Association of Polish Surgeons. And then there are two very valuable meta-analyses that are the winners of the “Videosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques” competition for the best meta-analysis of 2019. You can also find the results of randomized trials and original works, as usual, from various fields of minimally invasive surgery. I cordially invite you to familiarize yourself with them. And for the rest of the vacation time, I hope you will enjoy holidays as much as possible in the time of the pandemic.

Kind regards
Prof. Jacek Szeliga
