Chronic inflammatory disorders of autoimmune background such as autoimmune hepatitis, inflammatory bowel diseases, rheumatoid arthritis or systemic lupus erythematosus affect in majority women of childbearing age. These diseases demand inclusion into therapy of strong acting immunosuppressive drugs that due to mechanism of action are not indifferent for pregnant woman and appropriate fetus development. Therefore the knowledge of current indications and contraindications of selected immunosuppressive agents usage, with pregnancy as a condition requiring special caution, creates an important link for therapeutic process. In this paper we discuss complicated issue of immuno-suppressive treatment during pregnancy with consideration of its potential toxic and tera-togenic risk as well as current therapeutic recommendations.
