Hypothyroidism represents one of the most common chronic endocrine disorders. In the paper the causes, symptoms and diagnostics of hypothyroidism was discussed. The rules of therapy and follow-up of hypothyroidism were presented. Special emphasis was given to possible causes and consequences of inappropriate thyroxine therapy.
