Intussusception is quite common in children, but in adults is a cause of ileus in only 1-5% of cases. Clinical manifestation in adults can be widely diverse, vague and recurrent, and depends on the location of intussusception. Preoperative recognition in adults can become a difficult diagnostic problem. Presented cases of our patients with intussusception point out particular diagnostic problems: false positive and false negative misinterpretation of clinical manifestation and additional visual examination may cause misdiagnosis and even mistreatment. Presented cases are at the same time unique. Double intussusception and colonic intussusception caused by a lipoma are rarely reported.
