Eosinophilic esophagitis in children

Eosinophilic esophagitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the esophagus in children with failure to thrive, dysphagia and abdominalgia. In histopathologic studes of esophageal mucosa the number of eosinophilis exceeds 15 in HPF. In the study a clinical picture of the disease in five children aged from 2.5 to 18 years has been presented Attention was paid to clinical symptoms depending on the age, seasonal diagnosis, allergy, endoscopic and histologic changes, abnormalites in diagnostic tests and coexisting diseases. Presented cases indicate for the necessity of considering of eosinophilic esophagitis in differential diagnosis of clinical symptoms in the upper part of alimentary tract.
