Zawiadamiamy z ogromnym smutkiem,  że 10 października 2025 roku, zmarł po wieloletniej chorobie wybitny specjalista w dziedzinie patomorfologii i  neuropatologii prof. dr hab. n. med. Janusz Szymaś.

Wieloletni przewodniczący Stowarzyszenia Neuropatologów Polskich oraz członek Polskiego Towarzystwa Patologów. Były Kierownik Pracowni Patomorfologii Neurochirurgicznej Katedry Anatomii Patologicznej Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Poznaniu. Profesor Janusz Szymaś był autorem wielu prac naukowych oraz pionierem telediagnostyki w Polsce.


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Janusz Szymaś, a distinguished specialist in the fields of pathology and neuropathology, on October 10, 2025, after a long illness.

He served for many years as the President of the Association of Polish Neuropathologists and was a member of the Polish Society of Pathologists. He was also the former Head of the Neurosurgical Pathology Laboratory at the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Poznań University of Medical Sciences.

Professor Janusz Szymaś was the author of numerous scientific publications and a pioneer of telediagnostics in Poland.


Z głębokim żalem zawiadamiamy o nagłej śmierci prof. dr. hab. n. med. Pawła Piotra Liberskiego, wybitnego neurologa i neuropatologa, Członka Stowarzyszenia Neuropatologów Polskich, kierownika Zakładu Patologii Molekularnej i Neuropatologii oraz byłego Prorektora ds. Nauki Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi. Profesor Paweł Liberski był światowej klasy specjalistą w dziedzinie chorób prionowych, autorem ponad 670 publikacji naukowych, promotorem wielu prac doktorskich i habilitacyjnych, cenionym wykładowcą oraz mentorem. Jego dorobek naukowy i wkład w rozwój medycyny pozostaną trwałym śladem w historii polskiej nauki. Łączymy się w bólu z Rodziną i Bliskimi, składając najszczersze wyrazy współczucia. 

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the sudden death of Prof. Paweł Piotr Liberski, MD, PhD, an eminent neurologist and neuropathologist, Member of the Association of Polish Neuropathologists, Head of the Department of Molecular Pathology and Neuropathology and former Vice-Rector for Science at the Medical University of Lodz. Professor Paweł Liberski was a world-class specialist in the field of prion diseases, the author of over 670 scientific publications, the supervisor of many doctoral and postdoctoral theses, a valued lecturer and mentor. His scientific achievements and contribution to the development of medicine will remain a permanent trace in the history of Polish science. We join in the pain with the Family and Loved Ones, expressing our sincerest condolences.
