Occlusion of the lumen of the small intestine caused by an unmasticated and undigested mushroom is an extremely rare cause of obturative gastrointestinal obstruction. Herein we report a case of a 60-year-old woman who was operated on due to symptoms of bowel obstruction caused by an unmasticated and undigested mushroom known as the chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius) or golden chanterelle. The mushroom was impacted in a terminal part of the ileum, approximately 10 cm from the ileocecal valve.
