Gallbladder cancer is one of the most malignant tumours of the digestive system. At the time of reaching a definitive diagnosis of most of the cases examined, the tumour is so advanced that it is not suitable to carry out resection of the tumour, which is virtually the only way of radical treatment. Diagnostic imaging is the primary way to assess the progress of cancer of the gallbladder. Technological advances of modern imaging techniques, especially ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, caused that earlier diagnosis of gallbladder cancer is possible if the patient is directed at the right time. The authors have tried to show the current possibilities of imaging methods, to determine how it comes to local tumour growth and spread to surrounding structures and provide indications for therapeutic intervention.
