Confronting perimenopausal women’s knowledge of coronary heart disease with their health behaviours. Controversial role of hormone replacement therapy in the protection of coronary heart disease
Aim: We analysed in the article an anonymous survey made mostly among family doctors and internal medicine specialists, referring to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.

Material and methods: The studies included 122 GPs and other doctors. A survey of 28 questions was conducted, aiming to test the knowledge of basic rules of diagnosis and treatment of irritable bowel syndrome.

Results: The results of this survey show that the positive diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is still a problem for doctors and that the exclusion of other diseases seems to be the most important for doctors in patients with IBS suspicion.

Conclusions: Regarding the lack of knowledge about positive diagnosis of IBS, further education among doctors in this area is needed.
