The pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery is of rare incidence but poses a considerable difficulty in vascular surgery. The main cause of the pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery are complications following acute pancreatitis. The rupture of the pseudoaneurysm maight even prove life-threatening. In the case report we present a 49-years old man suffering from the pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery caused by pancreatitis. The pseudoaneurysm was detected by means of angio-computer tomography (angio-CT), it’s size being 90 mm. During the surgery we removed the pseudoaneurysm together with the spleen and the distal part of the pancreas. On the 10th postoperative day the patient left the hospital. An early diagnosis and high-volume surgical treatment in case of large size pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery produce the best possible results.
